CHANGES TO THE SOUTH VEHICLE CAR PARK
On Monday 1 October 2018 we changed the layout of the South Vehicle Car Park. This is so we can start building the first phase of the new Fruit and Veg Market.
THIS WORK STARTED MONDAY 1 OCTOBER 2018
This phase of work will last for roughly 20 weeks.
HOARDINGS
The area outlined in red shows where the hoardings have gone up. Everything inside this line is for construction and is out of use.
I’M A CUSTOMER, WHERE DO I PARK?
Looking at the drawing above, you should park in the Loading/Unloading Vans area. If you need dock levellers or space to consolidate, please use the Consolidation Area in the south as labelled above, as this can hold HGVs.
I’M A TENANT, WHERE DO I PARK?
To save the best parking spots for customers, we recommend that you park in the areas labelled Tenant Van and Box Van Parking. We ask for your help in freeing up the spaces nearest to the units for customers.
Tenant HGV Parking has been provided to the south of the Interim Distribution Units (IDU) for articulated and rigid lorries.
If you have a pickup truck or non-commercial vehicle, you should be using the Multi-Storey Car Park.
I’M A SUPPLIER, WHERE DO I PARK?
For delivering to wholesalers, you can continue to use the existing loading lane along D Row. This lane is for loading and unloading only. Produce must be taken straight to your Apron or unit once it has been loaded/unloaded.
If you need a dock leveller, use the Consolidation Area in the south of the market.
ADDITIONAL PARKING SPACES
There is capacity for vehicles alongside Thessaly Road (shown in yellow on the drawing). There is also extra space for vehicles on the Vacant Aprons (the green areas on the drawing) across the market.
SIGNAGE
Signs are in place to help direct you to the new areas, as well as traffic marshalls on hand. Traffic marshalls are on site throughout the night, helping to familiarise people with the new layout in these first few weeks.

WHERE TO PARK YOUR VAN FOR THE SUNDAY MARKET
The Sunday market will continue. However, it will have to adapt to the space that is available. If you currently use the South Vehicle Car Park to park your vehicle on a Saturday night, you will need to use the South side of the South Vehicle Car Park or the West side of the market.
Please see the drawing below for more details on this. We have spoken to the tenants most likely to be impacted by this.
WHERE DO I NOW PARK AFTER I FINISH WORK ON A SATURDAY?
Please park your vans in the area highlighted dark green. There is parking space along the Southern Loop Road, which will operate as a temporary one-way single lane. This area is shown via the yellow arrows.
TIMINGS
This will be in operation between Sat 08:00- Sun 18:00.
UPDATE ON THE NEW SECURITY LODGE
Work on the Security Lodge for the new Fruit and Veg Market is well underway. We have been digging up the road by A Row and Link House, and putting concrete foundations in the ground for the new building. You’ll start to see the structure of the Security Lodge taking shape over the coming weeks.
A new exit route for vans 3.65m and below is now in place. All other vehicles must continue to exit the market via Wandsworth Road.
DEADLINE TO PAY FOR 2018/19 ENTRY TAGS: WEDS 31 OCTOBER
Please make sure you’ve settled payment for your renewal of 2018/19 entry tags by Wednesday October 31. You must complete your renewal form prior to making any payment. We cannot accept payment without this.
Completed forms can be sent to entry@cgma.co.uk, or posted or dropped off to CGMA in the Food Exchange.
MAKING PAYMENT
- Enclose a cheque with your completed form
- Contact the CGMA switchboard to pay over phone: 020 7720 2211. Your form must be completed and returned to us beforehand
Please note, as a tenant you can only renew your existing tags as we are unable to issue any additional ones on top of this. If you haven’t renewed your tag by the end of the month, it will expire and you will lose your tag. You will then have to pay £5 on the door each time you wish to enter the market.
NEW GRILLS FOR THE SLOSH PITS INSIDE THE FLOWER MARKET
We are installing new grills in the slosh pits (the drains located outside the entrance of the Flower Market) later this month. The grills will help to catch any pieces of debris that can clog the drains and cause the slosh pits to overflow. Our cleaners will also empty the pits regularly to keep the drains clear.
We will continue to monitor the use of the slosh pits. Your feedback has been really helpful and we’ll get back to you on some of the specific points you’ve raised soon.
